The Children's Equity Project

Dr. Williams is a professor of practice at the Children's Equity Project. He is an expert on educational inequity, English learners, dual immersion programs, and urban education reform. Williams was previously a senior fellow at The Century Foundation and the co-founder of the English Learners Forum. He was also a senior researcher in New America's Education Policy Program, a senior researcher in its Early Education Initiative, and the founding director of its Dual Language Learners National Work Group. He has taught postsecondary courses at Georgetown University, George Washington University, and American University. He has participated in numerous education working groups and coalitions hosted by the Aspen Institute, National Newcomer Network, Emerging Bilingual Collaborative, National Conference of State Legislatures, Education Commission of the States, and others. 

Williams holds a PhD and MA in government from Georgetown University, an MS in teaching from Pace University, and a BA in government and Spanish from Bowdoin College. Williams is a former K–12 Michigan public school student, New York City public school teacher, and a current public school parent to his three children in Washington, D.C.
