The Children's Equity Project and partners to establish National Center for Early School Success
About the Center for Early School Success
September 27, 2024
We are thrilled to announce that a collaborative led by the CEP in partnership with the Buffett Early Childhood Institute at the University of Nebraska, the Math Project at UCLA, the University of Oregon, New America, and the California Reading and Literacy Project, was selected to establish the first Center for Early School Success, funded by the US Department of Education.
This Center will provide capacity-building services to support SEAs and LEAs to implement comprehensive and aligned preschool to third-grade (PK–3) early learning systems, close opportunity gaps, and increase learning for our nation's young students. The center will build on the CEP's and our partners' previous work, and focus on increasing the number of children who meet challenging State academic standards; supporting effective transitions to kindergarten; establishing authentic partnerships with parents and families; improving attendance policies; and scaling developmentally informed and evidence-based instructional practices in social and emotional development, early literacy, and math.
